Two dead, including a child, after vehicle plows through Kansas soccer field

Two people, one of them a child, were killed during a soccer game at Stryker Soccer Complex in Wichita, Kansas, on Saturday when a vehicle drove onto the field, police said. Multiple other people were injured and transported to area hospitals, but the extent of their injuries was not immediately known.

Capt. Aaron Moses of the Wichita Police Department confirmed the deaths and announced the driver was in custody. Two juveniles were also in the vehicle at the time, according to the statement. Police have not released the names or ages of the victims pending notification of families.

The City of Wichita canceled all events at the soccer complex and appealed to attendees for video footage of the incident. Witnesses reported a black pickup truck plowing through the youth soccer fields and stopping 100 to 200 yards down the field after striking multiple people.
